Taking the old road with first stop at Aptera, giving you a panoramic view over Souda Bay and the surrounding area we continue through the foothills passing through many of the small villages eventually arriving at Lake Kournas. The only freshwater lake in Crete which is protected under the Natura 2000 program.

The trip continues to Argyroupoli, a beautiful village that nestles in the hills west of Rethymnon. Argiroupoli is also famous for gashing springs and waterfalls.

Rethymnon old town which is  predominantly Venetian has also Turkish influences and is one of the best-preserved old towns in Crete.
This city is a maze of narrow streets full of romantic tavernas and many small bars and shops (Not to be missed!).
